The electrical system of the heart regulates the timing of heart contraction. However, occasional disturbances prevent the electrical impulses from their normal course and also may cause either bothersome or life-threatening heart rhythm disturbances. A common example is atrial fibrillation, which is very prevalent disorder that is common and is a major cause of stroke.

We have a variety of both noninvasive and invasive techniques which are able to diagnose and classify various heart rhythm and conduction disturbances which often present as fainting, syncope, lightheadedness, fatigue, or even in the setting of sudden cardiac death survivors.

We have recently greatly expanded our cardiac electrophysiology services and added many new clinicians bringing novel concepts to help assist in the care of our patients. We provide all kinds of heart rhythm disorders treatment including ablation of atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardias (like WPW and AVNRT), atrial arrhythmias and ventricular arrhythmias. We also perform atrial appendage closure to prevent strokes. We implant pacemakers and defibrillators to avoid slowing of heart rate, prevent sudden cardiac death and help improve heart function in our heart failure patients.
